At InTouch Therapy, cupping is integrated into personalised treatment plans to support recovery, improve movement, and enhance overall function. Rather than being used as a standalone treatment, it works alongside hands-on physiotherapy, therapeutic exercise, and other evidence-based techniques to help you achieve your rehabilitation goals. Cupping therapy is a specialised treatment that can help relieve muscle tension, improve soft tissue mobility, and support the body’s natural healing process. Although it has been practised for centuries, cupping is now commonly used alongside modern physiotherapy to complement rehabilitation programmes for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
Cupping therapy involves placing specially designed cups on the skin to create gentle suction. This suction lifts the soft tissues, helping to improve circulation, release muscle tension, and encourage movement within the muscles and fascia.
Depending on your condition and treatment goals, your Physiotherapist may use static cupping, where the cups remain in one position, or moving cupping, where the cups glide over the skin during treatment.
Cupping is always performed following a thorough assessment to ensure it is appropriate for your individual needs and forms part of a comprehensive rehabilitation programme.
